Des Moines, IA (June 26, 2018) – Following a day of celebrations, as TMAC was inducted into the Knoxville Raceway Hall of Fame, and a strong podium finish on Mid-Season Championship night, Terry McCarl and the TMAC Motorsports team will look to carry that momentum into two big nights of action, as the World of Outlaws invade Knoxville Raceway this Friday and Saturday night! While Terry had the Simplot Grower Solutions #24 running great on the track, wife Lori will have new TMAC Simplot gear at the merchandise trailer this weekend and a great hat/t-shirt combo deal!
After busting an oil pump last Saturday while running second in the A-main, TMAC had a fresh motor in the car and it showed early. “Losing a motor was a bad deal for us, but Tommy Rider at Rider Racing Engines got us a new one for Saturday night,” said Terry. “It ran great from the moment we hit the track; 2nd fast during hot laps, then third in qualifying was great and the fastest I’ve felt since my concussion.”
TMAC’s success continued in his heat, as he was able to grab the win after moving up from his starting position on the outside of the third row, which included a pass involving the patented TMAC Wave. “The car was great in the heat,” said McCarl. “When I made the pass on Gio Scelzi for the lead, I thought of his dad, and my friend, Gary and had to give Gio a little wave as I went past.” TMAC’s thought of Gary was reciprocated, as when he got back to his hauler after the heat, Terry had a message from his old friend waiting.
Saturday’s heat races provided a great show for the fans with plenty of passing and McCarl gave credit where credit is due. “The Dunkins and the Knoxville crew have been doing a fantastic job on the track these past few weeks,” said Terry. “You look at the 410 heats on Saturday, I was able to win from 6th and both Brian [Brown] and Kerry [Madsen] were able to get to 2nd in their heats from the same starting spot. What’s even more impressive, is that the track isn’t going away in the feature; there were still two fast lines in the A.”
TMAC would complete his night with a podium run in the night’s main event, with a setup that just missed the mark. “We were still pretty good in the feature, but we just had the car a bit too tight to where I couldn’t run the bottom,” said McCarl. “We ended the night with a solid 3rd-place finish and really learned a lot for this coming Friday and Saturday, and we’re looking forward to taking on the Outlaws on the home turf.”
Terry McCarl and the TMAC Motorsports #24 will go head-to-head with the World of Outlaws this Friday and Saturday night at the Knoxville Raceway, looking to utilize their home-field advantage and score some strong finishes!
