Kerry Madsen (2nd out) set fast time on the blazing fast surface with a lap of 15.126. Calvin Landis (18th), Brian Brown (11th), Wayne Johnson (20th), Skip Jackson (15th), Don Droud Jr (10th), Kevin Swindell (16th), Billy Alley (27th), Jesse Giannetto (12th), and Justin Henderson (32nd) rounded out the top ten.
Heat 1) (started) 1. D1 Jesse Giannetto (4) 2. 4 Jon Agan (1) 3. 55 Kerry Madsen (6) 4. 2 Skip Jackson (5) 5. 56 Chris Walraven (3) / 6. 02 Mike Reinke (7) 7. 35 Greg Jones (9) 8. 72x Curtis Boyer (8) DNS - 1 Brent Antill (2)
Gianetto assumed command and checked out. Everybody was running the bottom side of the speedway, which was the quick way around.
Heat 2) 1. 69 Mike Moore (1) 2. D11 Justin Henderson (4) 3. 19 Bob Weuve (2) 4. 17G Don Droud Jr. (5) 5. 70 Calvin Landis (6) / 6. 71R Ryan Anderson (8) 7. 4AU Lynton Jeffrey (7) 8. 3NZ Jamie McDonald (9) 9. 7w Tim St. Arnold (3)
Moore led the distance while there was some good racing midpack between Droud, Landis, Anderson, and Jeffrey. St. Arnold had 3rd locked down when the rear axel broke going into turn three for the final time. He slammed the wall a ton and flipped wildly, totally destroying his machine. He was uninjured. Landis, who had a poor start, rebounded and made it in.
Heat 3) 1. 10 Ricky Logan (1) 2. 21 Brian Brown (6) 3. 81 Randy Anderson (3) 4. 1K Kevin Swindell (5) 5. 44G Kaley Gharst (4) / 6. F5 Ian Madsen (7) 7. 72 Mike Deaver (8) 8. 71 Robert Bell (9) 9. 2K Kevin Frey (2)
Logan's poor time trial run put him up front to start, where he stayed. Brown was dialed in and once he got to 2nd appeared to be catching Logan. He ran short on laps. Frey exited with two to go.
Heat 4) 1. 1w Chad Meyer (4) 2. 47 Matt Moro (2) 3. 14AJ Wayne Johnson (6) 4. 60 Colin Northway (3) 5. 5m Jamie Moyle (1) / 6. 12L John Lambertz (8) 7. 17AU Marty Perovich (7) 8. 50 Tyler Houseman (9) 9. 22 Billy Alley (5)
Moro led early before Meyer overtook him for good. Alley had fourth when he scorched a motor with two to go.
B-Main) 1. Antill (1) 2. Jeffrey (4) 3. Ry. Anderson (8) 4. I. Madsen (5) / 5. Lambertz (10) 6. Perovich (6) 7. Deaver (9) 8. Jones (11) 9. Bell (13) 10. Houseman (14) 11. Reinke (3) 12. Boyer (7) 13. McDonald (12) DNS- Frey (2)
Anderosn jumped the initial start and was sent to the tail. He stormed the high side on the next start and got into a transfer almost immediately. Boyer tipped over in turn four on lap two, but continued with a slightly damaged top wing. McDonald blew a motor on lap five and came to a stop. Antill led early, but was being challenged by Reinke and Jeffrey. Lap ten spelled disaster for Reinke as he attempted to go on the outside of Boyer (in the middle) and Jeffrey (on the bottom) down the backchute. Boyer moved up slightly, contacting Reinke. Reinke got into the fence as the duo flipped wildly down the backchute and into turn three (Reinke). Reinke slightly got the worst of it, but both cars were junk. Both drivers luckily walked away. Antill led the final two laps as Madsen held off the charges of Lambertz to get in the show.
A-Main) 1. Jackson (2) 2. Johnson (3) 3. Droud (1) 4. K. Madsen (6) 5. Swindell (7) 6. Brown (4) 7. Landis (5) 8. Logan (19) 9. Jeffrey (22) 10. Moro (16) 11. Henderson (9) 12. Gharst (10) 13. Walraven (12) 14. Moyle (20) 15. Antill (21) 16. Ry. Anderson (23) 17. I. Madsen (24) 18. Meyer (11) 19. Giannetto (8) 20. Weuve (15) 21. Agan (17) 22. Ra. Anderson (13) 23. Moore (18) 24. Northway (14)
The initial start saw Moro and Northway touch with Northway hitting the wall and Moro spinning. Northway was done. The next start saw Weuve & Moore tangle in turn four. Moore was done. Jackson, Johnson, Droud, and Madsen mixed it up as they got some green flag laps finally in. Skip and Johnson traded sliders in a great battle, while Madsen crept into the fray. A Walraven spin on the 7th lap halted what was sure to be an amazing 3-way battle with Madsen peaking to the middle groove on the awesomely racy track. Ra. Anderson pulled in w/ no oil pressure. Johnson led Jackson, Madsen, Droud, and Brown back to the green. Jackson assumed the lead shortly and set sail. Agan blew his motor up on the front chute on lap sixteen. Jackson got a good restart, Johnson a poor one, and Jackson raced to his first win of '05. Swindell and Brown got together at the flag stand with the checkers flying fighting for 5th, putting some fire in Brown's belly. Jeffrey was the hard-charger getting into the top ten from the B.

Heat 1) (started, *qualified for feature) 1. 83B John Kearney (4*) 2. 77 Terry Alexander (2*) 3. 10 Jeff Mitrisin (3*) 4. 14 Randy Martin (9*) 5. 20 Stevie Walsh (5) 6. 7 Dustin Selvage (6) 7. 7h John Hall (8) 8. 5G Brett Golik (1) 9. 12x Jerry Crabb (7)
Kearney had the lead by lap two, while Martin was on the move picking off three cars on the first lap. He would continue to work hard and got into the show for his efforts. Golik and Crabb exited with two to go.
Heat 2) 1. 96 Bronson Maeschen (2*) 2. 23 Eric Jobe (1*) 3. 2 John Schulz (5*) 4. X Chuck Swenson (8*) 5. 51 Dave Hall (7*) 6. F4 Eddie Leavitt Jr (3) 7. Y5 Mike Houseman Jr (6) 8. 18JP Jack Pillon (9) 9. 57T Dan Thornburg (4)
Maeschen dominated this one running the bottom to perfection all the way around. Swenson made the most of the long tow from Watertown, SD by putting the X into the show.
Heat 3) 1. 24 Higday (3*) 2. 8L Tom Lenz (6*) 3. 56x Davey Heskin (1*) 4. 22N Nate Mosher (4*) 5. 54 Brett Mather (7) 6. 41 Mike Trent (8) 7. 22 Rob Edwards (5) 8. 49 Josh Schneidermann (9) 9. 6 Mitchell Alexander (2)
Alexander got the early lead with Higday in chase. He melted an engine though with two laps in, handing the lead to a charging Higday. Schneidermann spun a driveline on the last lap in 3 & 4 ending his night.
Heat 4) 1. 48 Jarrod Smith (1*) 2. 04 Frankie Heimbaugh (3*) 3. 53 Joe Beaver (5*) 4. R19 Scott Winters (4) 5. 11M Troy Meyer (7) 6. Y2 Mike Houseman Sr (6) 7. 33 Alan Zoutte (2) 8. 69R Ryan York (8)
York, in his first start at K'ville this year, biked Rappin' Rodney Turner's team car in turn two at the start, and took a wild series of flips that smeared the caution lights clean off the turn two fence. He was unhurt. Smith led the distance, but Beaver had a nice run to 3rd.
Heat 5) 1. 5J Larry Ball Jr (2*) 2. 7a Johnny Anderson (1*) 3. 57x Jake Peters (4*) 4. 126 Stacy Alexander (5*) 5. 1z Dusty Zomer (6) 6. 9 Rager Phillips (3) 7. 11 Pete Crall (7) DNS - 69 Rodney Turner (8)
Ball Jr took command of this stacked heat race and ran away. The bottom was still the fast way around, but it would slowly go away as the night went on.
B-Main) 1. Mather (1) 2. Zomer (4) 3. Meyer (3) 4. Walsh (5) / 5. Winters (2) 6. Leavitt Jr (8) 7. Hall (13) 8. Selvage (7) 9. Phillips (10) 10. Crall (15) 11. Houseman Sr (9) 12. Zoutte (14) 13. Edwards (13) 14. Pillon (16) 15. Golik (17) 16. Trent (6) DNS - Houseman Jr (12), M. Alexander (19), Thornburg (18)
Crall slid up and got into Trent as they raced down the backchute. The result was Trent taking a hellacious bender down the backchute into turn three. He flipped several times end-over-end, destroying his machine, but he walked away. There wasn't a whole lot going on up front as Mather and Zomer checked out, but Meyer, Winters, and Walsh were battling it out for 3rd - 5th. Walsh nipped Winters on the last lap, last corner for the final transfer.
A-Main) 1. Kearney (6) 2. Peters (15) 3. Beaver (13) 4. Ball Jr (2) 5. Zomer (22) 6. Heimbaugh (8) 7. Jobe (10) 8. Martin (7) 9. Schulz (11) 10. Winters (25) 11. Mather (21) 12. Walsh (24) 13. Mitrisin (16) 14. S. Alexander (18) 15. Hall (19) 16. Meyer (23) 17. Anderson (14) 18. T. Alexander (9) 19. Maeschen (3) 20. Mosher (20) 21. Heskin (17) 22. Lenz (4) 23. Higday (5) 24. Smith (1)
This one took a while to complete, but had some great racing. Swenson's car would not go in gear, and he retired. Winters started shotgun as the first alternate. Mitrisin jumped the initial start and was sent to the tail. Maeschen spun in turn two in front of the field in the 2nd attempt at a start. Ball Jr got out front before Anderson spun in turn two on lap four. Smith wacked the wall in three at the same time and was done. S. Alexander's left rear went down, and he changed it. Higday's right rear also went down, but he was unable to get it changed before they went back green. Lenz slowed on lap seven, but a caution was thrown on lap nine as he didn't get off the track. Ball Jr led Kearney, a surging Peters, Martin, a hard-charging Zomer, Heimbaugh, and a slide-jobbing Joe Beaver. Kearney slid Ball on the re-start and drove off. Peters got 2nd, and got help when Mosher spun in two with one lap remaining. Peters tried to slide Kearney but didn't have enough. Kearney scaled the front stretch fence and overtook one of the Chadd brothers (I think they said Mike?) for 2nd all-time in 360 feature wins. Peters, Zomer, Beaver, and Winters all passed a ton of cars, but Zomer passed the most. With 114 cars entered, the 360 Natls next week will be a sight to see....
