It was a weekend of improvement for “The Professor” and will help to boost the confidence of the team heading into a busy Memorial Day weekend.

The night opened on a fast, heavy track due to the large amount of rain throughout the week, with the World of Wheels #49 heading out early in the qualifying order. While the pill draw was exceptional, the qualifying effort was lacking. “We’ve still been struggling in qualifying and putting ourselves in a bad spot for the remainder of the night,” said Josh. “Once we get to the actual racing we’ve been doing pretty well, so our focus is on making the car better for qualifying to put us in position to make the A-main invert.”

While Josh and the team are still searching for the answers to their qualifying woes, their success in heat races continued on Saturday night. Josh picked up his second heat win of the season to go along with two second place finishes. “In our heat, the car started feeling pretty good,” said Schneiderman. “It felt like we really got back into the groove of things with our heat and the A-main on Saturday. It took a bit longer than we would have liked it, but the car was great, and once we get qualifying worked out it should bring more strong finishes.”

Josh began the A-main on the outside of the fifth row, but was the beneficiary of some early attrition. “We were lucky to avoid the melee at the beginning of the feature,” said Josh. “That tore up a lot of good cars in front of us, which we definitely benefited from, however it still feels like we have things heading in the right direction.”

Schneiderman was able to complete the night with a solid finish of 5th, though he was happy for the opportunity to race at all. “Due to all the moisture in the track, it stayed pretty narrow and fast all night,” said Josh. “It’s incredible that Knoxville was able to get the track ready and the fans got to see some good racing; it makes it even better that we finished the night strong.”

Josh Schneiderman and the Deuce Motorsports team will be back in action this Saturday night at the Knoxville Raceway, before a big weekend of racing on Memorial Day weekend. The holiday weekend will see the #49 machine competing in two Sprint Invaders events, as well as the weekly show at Knoxville.
