40 cars

Paul McMahan (20th car out to time) set a new track record at 9.846 seconds on the high-banked bullring.  Donny Schatz (6th car out) was second quick on the lightning fast surface, followed by Daryn Pittman (31st), Stevie Smith (7th), Brooke Tatnell (32nd), Terry McCarl (17th), Tyler Walker (33rd), Justin Henderson (27th), Jason Solwold (39th) and Brian Carlson (8th).

Heat one (started): 1. Jac Haudenschild 35 (3) 2. Becca Anderson 19 (2) 3. Solwold R19 (4) 4. Travis Rilat 29 (7) 5. McMahan 20 (6) / 6. Jesse Hockett 75 (8) 7. Henderson D1 (5) 8. Abe Sherwood 44 (9) 9. Kerry Madsen 55 (1) 10. Mike Chadd 4c (10)

Madsen led early until hurting a motor and dropping out on lap seven of twelve.  Haudenschild inherited the lead. Rilat turned a good first lap getting by Henderson into a transfer.  McMahan benefited from Madsen’s misfortune by grabbing the last transfer.  Chadd exited for the night on lap six.

Heat two (started): 1. Bill Rose 6 (2) 2. Tim Shaffer 6G (1) 3. Schatz 15 (6) 4. Wayne Johnson 10 (3) 5. Walker 5 (5) / 6. Jesse Giannetto D1x (7) 7. Carlson 18 (4) 8. Rich Bubak 9x (9) 9. Tony Bruce Jr. 18T (8) 10. Kim Kennedy 1K (10)

Rose led the distance.  Schatz challenged Shaffer at times, but this one was mostly single-file.  Walker, subbing for the weekend for Sammy Swindell, grabbed the last transfer.

Heat three (started): 1. Randy Hannagan 1x (1) 2. Pittman 21 (6) 3. Bronson Maeschen 96 (2) 4. Craig Dollansky 7 (3) 5. Jason Martin 36 (8) / 6. McCarl 24 (5) 7. Jim Cameron 96c (7) 8. Brian Brown 21B (4) 9. Tim Newman 18v (10) 10. JR Topper 92J (9)

Brown got over the turn three berm at speed on the first go-around, but somehow saved it from tipping over.  Hannagan led a single-file parade after Brown’s mishap.  All moves in the heats were made in the first and second corners.  The track remained lightning fast throughout the night.  Martin took advantage of Brown’s restart at the rear to hold off McCarl for the final transfer.

Heat four (started): 1. Jeremy Campbell 10c (2) 2. Dion Hindi 11D (1) 3. Smith 19s (6) 4. Joey Saldana 9 (4) 5. Chad Kemenah 15K (3) / 6. Tatnell 8 (5) 7. Mike Lefholz 21L (8) 8. Trevor Green 11AU (7) 9. Billy Alley 17G (9) 10. Mike Moore 69 (10)

Campbell led flag to flag.  Moore dropped out on lap two.

Dash one (started): 1. Haudenschild (1) 2. Walker (4) 3. Dollansky (2) 4. Saldana (3) 5. McMahan (6) 6. Pittman (5)

Haudenschild led throughout.  Walker hit the high side to move into the runner-up spot on the opening lap.

Dash two (started): 1. Anderson (1) 2. Johnson (2) 3. Smith (5) 4. Kemenah (3) 5. Solwold (4) 6. Schatz (6)

When the opening start was brought back by a yellow, Solwold slowed in three.  Schatz was on the gas and climbed his right rear, flipping over the berm.  Both were done for the dash.  Anderson held off Johnson to win the six lapper.

B main (started): 1. McCarl (2) 2. Tatnell (1) 3. Carlson (4) 4. Henderson (3) / 5. Brown (5) 6. Giannetto (7) 7. Green (9) 8. Cameron (6) 9. Bubak (12) 10. Bruce (11) 11. Newman (17) 12. Moore (18) 13. Kennedy (16) 14. Sherwood (13) 15. Alley (14) 16. Hockett (8) 17. Lefholz (10) 18. Topper (15) DNS – Madsen, Chadd

Hockett flipped down the frontstretch on the initial green.  Sherwood flipped, making contact with Alley on the restart.  Both were done, but uninjured. Tatnell led the 12 lapper throughout, before sliding up in turn two on the white flag lap, allowing McCarl to take the win.

A main (started): 1. Haudenschild (1) 2. Dollansky (3) 3. McCarl (14) 4. Kemenah (8) 5. McMahan (7) 6. Pittman (9) 7. Shaffer (22) 8. Smith (6) 9. Johnson (4) 10. Tatnell (11) 11. Saldana (5) 12. Hindi (20) 13. Henderson (13) 14. Campbell (17) 15. Anderson (2) 16. Rose (15) 17. Carlson (16) 18. Hannagan (19) 19. Solwold (10) 20. Maeschen (18) 21. Schatz (12) 22. Martin (23) 23. Rilat (21) DNS – Walker

Walker could not solve ignition problems and didn’t make the call.  On the initial green, Haudenschild got on the gas, up the track and banged Anderson.  The two making contact caused a chain reaction that resulted in Schatz getting upside down and Solwold’s front wing collapsing.  Schatz headed to the work area, as did Anderson, who restarted at the rear.  Rilat had something snap in the front end when staging for the restart, sending him into a wild flip under the flagstand.  He was uninjured.  The delay gave Schatz enough time to reenter the fray.  Johnson grabbed the lead in the 40 lapper before a lap two flip by Martin.  He was also uninjured.  Schatz exited with persistent mechanical ills.  Johnson led Haudenschild, Dollansky, Kemenah and Smith back to green flag racing.  On lap eight, Haudenschild worked under Johnson to wrestle the lead away and set sail into lapped traffic.  Six laps later, Maeschen came to rest on the backstretch and retired.  Haudenschild now led Dollansky, a surging McCarl, Johnson and Kemenah back under green at breakneck speeds.  Saldana was one of the few to try the high banks, but all returned back down to a low groove that was heavy and seemed to be getting heavier.  On lap 17, Solwold brought out the final red of the night with a turnover in turns three and four. Kemenah worked by Johnson in the final half of the race to claim fourth, while McMahan used a late surge to come home fifth.  Shaffer was the hard-charger, moving forward 15 spots.
