Des Moines, IA (April 10, 2018) – Carson McCarl is amped up and ready to go for his first full season of weekly 410 competition at the Knoxville Raceway. Piloting the Mike Sandvig & family owned car #7, the third generation driver will pursue the track’s Rookie of the Year title against the best weekly field in the country beginning this Saturday night April 14th.
“I’m so excited to get going with the points season at Knoxville,” said McCarl as he took a break from helping to prep the car for the upcoming weekend. “I’ve been provided a great opportunity by Mike Sandvig to run weekly for the 410 point championship and really feel strongly about the engine program we have for our 410s.”
It isn’t only the Rookie of the Year title that Carson will be chasing as he has set some pretty lofty goals for the Knoxville season. “Consistency is going to be the number one priority, as I want to compete for a solid finish well within the top ten of the final point standings, but I truly believe that we can challenge for a win or two this season.”
Carson also wanted to thank all the continued support from his sponsors, as well as one that will be joining the team this year: “We’re super excited to have a lot of sponsors back this year! Deberg Concrete, Rens Trucking, Ezlinger Electric, and Mastell Brothers Trucking are all back as sponsors this season and their continued support means so much to myself and the team,” Carson said. “I’m also very happy to have Jetco Electric coming onboard this year as a new sponsor and look forward to creating a lasting partnership.”
The great support from the sponsors on the Sandvig #7 will allow for the team to run a very busy schedule this year. “On top of racing every Saturday at Knoxville, we’re planning on running the Friday night shows at Jackson Motorplex, as well as dropping in the 360 to run MSTS and Nebraska 360 Series events,” Carson said.
In addition to the weekly schedule at Knoxville the team will also be competing against the World of Outlaws when they are in the region and Carson is looking forward to the opportunity to take on the best in the sport. “I’ve run with the Outlaws once and did pretty well, so I’m definitely excited to run with them when they come to the Midwest.” Some of the tracks where Carson will be going toe-to-toe with the Outlaws will be the Jackson Motorplex and Cedar Lake Speedway, as well as when the series visits Knoxville.
Carson and the Sandvig #7 are ready to hit the track this Saturday, April 14th for the Knoxville season opener and get off to a good start in the points.
