Kerry Madsen took the Benjamins home after the 2017 Midwest Thunder Sprint Cars presented by Open Wheel 101 Season
(Bill W) April 4, 2018, Monroe, IA – One of the goals of the website www.OpenWheel101.com is to give back to drivers. We were able to do that last year, when we launched Midwest Thunder Sprint Cars presented by Open Wheel 101. The goal was to have a title sponsor...we didn’t accomplish that...but we did have enough funds to pay champion, Kerry Madsen, and second place, Ian Madsen. Mark Dobmeier also received a $500 gift certificate from EMi.
In 2017, Hoseheads.com, The Cushion.com, Buckeye Threads and the Osky Challeges joined EMi as associate sponsors for the Midwest Thunder Sprint Cars presented by Open Wheel 101.
Hopefully, this year, we can raise the bar a little and pay more positions! Every penny of profit from advertising or donations towards this site went back to the drivers last year, and that will continue in 2018, so let’s raise some money! Contact me to find out how you can contribute and benefit sprint car racing here in the Midwest!
The schedule this year will run much the same as last. Knoxville Raceway and Jackson Motorplex will be the focus, with many other 410 shows within driving distance of the two being involved as well.
The first weekend has already been frozen out by Mother Nature! The MOWA event in Granite City, Illinois and the IRA/MOWA clash in West Burlington, Iowa have both been canceled. That makes the Jacksonville, Illinois World of Outlaws event Friday, April 13 the first up!
All non-Platinum World of Outlaws drivers are eligible. Last season, 158 drivers accumulated points, with 29 different winners in 59 events contested. Here was how 2017 wrapped up with feature wins in parentheses.
