Jason Solwold (1st car out to time) set the standard in time trials with a lap of 14.973 seconds.  Donny Schatz (14th car out) was second quick, followed by Jac Haudenschild (25th), Craig Dollansky (24th), Joey Saldana (46th), Daryn Pittman (15th), Skip Jackson (6th), Brian Brown (43rd), Clint Garner (32nd) and Billy Alley (41st).  A cushion developed about halfway up the speedway that was tough to move.  Efforts continued throughout the night to widen the speedway.

Heat one (started): 1. Calvin Landis 70 (2) 2. Chris Walraven 56 (1) 3. Solwold R19 (6) 4. Garner 40 (4) 5. Kerry Madsen 55 (7) / 6. Dion Hindi 11D (3) 7. Brown 21x (5) 8. Dusty Zomer 1z (10) 9. Larry Pinegar II 7N (8) 10. Mike Moore 69 (11) 11. Jesse Giannetto D1x (9) DNS - Tyler Houseman 50

Walraven grabbed the early advantage in the eight lapper.  Landis rocketed to the cushion and shot around for the lead with two to go.  Madsen got by Brown and then Hindi to gain a transfer despite missing the heat invert.

Heat two (started): 1. Kevin Swindell 1 (2) 2. Kaley Gharst 44G (1) 3. Justin Henderson D1 (3) 4. Alley 17G (4) 5. Schatz 15 (6) / 6. Jackson 2 (5) 7. Danny Lasoski 83 (8) 8. Wayne Johnson 10 (9) 9. Jason Martin 36 (7) 10. Becca Anderson 19 (10) 11. Tony Shilling 47T (11) DNS - Randy Anderson 81

Swindell was impressive, leaving the rest behind in a moslty single-file affair.  Lasoski appeared to have a strategy backfire as he was experimenting with parralelogram shape sideboards on the top wing.  He donned a traditional version for the B main.

Heat three (started): 1. Tim St. Arnold 7w (1) 2. Randy Hannagan 1x (4) 3. Haudenschild 35 (6) 4. Pittman 21 (5) 5. Tim Shaffer 6 (7) / 6. Jeremy Campbell 10c (3) 7. Brian Carlson 18 (11) 8. Lynton Jeffrey 12 (2) 9. Bill Rose 6R (9) 10. Jerrel Slinkard 15s (10) 11. Matt Moro 47 (8)

St. Arnold led flag to flag.  The lone stoppage came for second place runner, Jeffrey, who suffered a flat left rear n the third go-around.  Hannagan dogged St. Arnold, coming just short of the win at the line.  Shaffer worked by Campbell to gain the final transfer.

Heat four (started): 1. Tyler Walker 5 (1) 2. Dollansky 7 (6) 3. Brooke Tatnell 8 (4) 4. Saldana 9 (5) 5. Chad Kemenah 15K (8) / 6. Ryan Anderson 71R (2) 7. Terry McCarl 24 (10) 8. Bronson Maeschen 96 (3) 9. Rager Phillips 9P (9) 10. Greg Jones 3J (11) 11. Larry Ball Jr. 5J (7)

Walker led the distance.  McCarl, in his first WoO action since breaking a leg, managed to shoot by three cars immediately and tracked down the fifth place car of Ry. Anderson on the final lap for what appeared to be the final transfer.  McCarl was caught jumping on the start, however, and was penalized two spots.  Kemenah was the benefactor, as he too passed Ry. Anderson on the last lap, garnering the last transfer for himself.  Ball exited on lap two.

C main (started): 1. Zomer (1) 2. B. Anderson (2) / 3. Moore (3) 4. Shilling (7) 5. Jones (5) 6. Houseman (6) 7. Carlson (4) DNS - Slinkard, McCarl
Zomer led throughout in a stale single-file eight lapper.

Dash (started): 1. Alley (1) 2. Saldana (4) 3. Haudenschild (6) 4. Garner (2) 5. Pittman (3) 6. Solwold (8) 7. Schatz (7) 8. Tatnell (10) 9. Hannagan (9) 10. Dollansky (5)

Alley shot to the lead and held off a determined Saldana to take the popular six lap win.  Problems sidelined Dollansky.  Haudenschild did well to move up and take third from Garner with two to go.

B main (started): 1. Brown (2) 2. Lasoski (11) 3. Jackson (1) 4. Campbell (4) / 5. Hindi (5) 6. Jeffrey (6) 7. Maeschen (3) 8. Martin (8) 9. Giannetto (13) 10. Pinegar (10) 11. B. Anderson (16) 12. Zomer (17) 13. Ry. Anderson (7) 14. Phillips (16) 15. Johnson (12) 16. Rose (15) 17. Ball (9) DNS - Moro

Jackson shot from the pole to the early advantage, but succombed to Brown on lap two of the 12 lapper.  Ball exited on lap 2, and Rose did the same on lap five, while Johnson retired on lap 10.  Lasoski was on a rail and battled briefly with both Jeffrey and Hindi to nail a transfer.  The then shot under Campbell and took Jackson on the last lap for second.

A main (started): 1. Saldana (2) 2. Schatz (7) 3. Tatnell (8) 4. Alley (1) 5. Solwold (6) 6. Hannagan (9) 7. Lasoski (23) 8. Haudenschild (3) 9. Madsen (21) 10. Henderson (14) 11. Garner (4) 12. Brown (12) 13. Campbell (13) 14. Kemenah (24) 15. Swindell (16) 16. Gharst (19) 17. Landis (15) 18. Pittman (5) 19. Jackson (11) 20. St. Arnold (18) 21. Walker (17) 22. Walraven (20) 23. Dollansky (10) 24. Shaffer (22)

Shaffer flipped hard in turn one on the initial try at green.  He was knocked out initially, but was responding to the rescue crew, complaining of lower back pain as he was carefully transported to the hospital.  St. Arnold stopped on the restart, before Alley took the point when the 20 lapper went green at last.  Dollansky stopped with Jacob's ladder ills on lap two, slowing the action again.  Alley led Saldana, Haudenschild, Pittman and Solwold.  The Nebraska native continued to lead despite several shaky trips through turns one and two.  He had lapped St. Arnold when a cuation came out for Pittman who lost a tire on lap eight while running fifth.  Now Alley led Saldana, Haudenschild, Schatz and Tatnell.  One circuit later, Alley slid a bit on the backstretch and was overtaken for good by Saldana.  Schatz followed Saldana by Alley to take second, but Alley came back with a slide for life in turn two.  Schatz hammered Alley in the tailtank, but the two continued on, though Alley was overtaken by Tatnell.  The top four held position to lock themselves into Saturday's main event.  The win was Saldana's fourth at Knoxville and was worth $5,000.  Lasoski was the hard-charger, moving forward 16 spots from 23rd.

360s

Heat one (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Johnny Anderson 7a (1*) 2. Jake Peters 57x (3*) 3. Brett Golik 5G (4*) 4. Jeff Mitrisin 10 (6*) 5. Josh Higday 24 (5) 6. Ryan Bickett 17B (10*) 7. Curt Lund 87 (9) 8. Nate Van Haaften 3 (8) 9. Pete Crall 11 (2) DNS - Dustin Lindquist 55L (7)

Lindquist lost a motor and scratched for the night.  Anderson led the 7 lap distance, despite a lap four caution for second running Crall, who retired.  Ryan Bickett's move from 10th to 6th was enough for an A main transfer.

Heat two (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Brett Mather 54 (1*) 2. John Kearney 83 (6*) 3. Frankie Heimbaugh 04 (2*) 4. Stevie Walsh 00 (3) 5. Alan Zoutte 33 (5) 6. Stacey Alexander 126 (9) 7. John Anderson 4G (7) 8. Tom Lenz 8L (8) 9. Dustin Selvage 7 (4)

Mather led throughout, with the best race being a spirited duel for second between Kearney and Heimbaugh.

Heat three (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Tyler Thompson 2T (1*) 2. Davey Heskin 56 (2*) 3. John Schulz 2 (4*) 4. Joe Beaver 53 (5*) 5. Mike Houseman Y2 (3) 6. Scott Winters R19 (9) 7. Josh Schneiderman (6) 8. Jon Corbin 15 (7) DNS - Tyler Thompson 11T (8)

The rookie Thompson led flag to flag.  Corbin went out in smoke on lap four, the second rookie of the year contender to be done for the night.  Winters came back from an early spin to move by three cars.  Schulz and Beaver waged war for third with Schulz holding third.

Heat four (started, qualified for feature): 1. Dave Hall 51 (1*) 2. Troy Meyer 11m (4*) 3. Eric Mason B29 (2*) 4. Eric Vanderploeg 2Tx (7*) 5. Nate Mosher 22N (3) 6. Mike Houseman Jr. Y5 (6) 7. Gregg Bakker 11x (9) 8. Dave Glennon 5 (8) 9. Danny Heskin 84 (5)
Mason led early, before Hall took control on the low side on lap three.  Vanderploeg, who has replaced S. Alexander in the 2Tx, worked his way nicely into a transfer.

B main (started): 1. Higday (3) 2. S. Alexander (2) 3. Winters (6) 4. Walsh (1) / 5. Bakker (10) 6. Mosher (7) 7. Houseman (5) 8. Selvage (18) 9. Schneiderman (12) 10. Lund (8) 11. Houseman Jr. (9) 12. Crall (15) 13. Zoutte (4) 14. Glennon (16) 15. Lenz (14) 16. John Anderson (11) 17. Van Haaften (13) 18. Danny Heskin (17) DNS - Corbin, Lindquist, Tyler Thompson 11T\

S. Alexander drove his own machine to the point at the outset of the 10 lapper.  With two to go, Higday shot by on the high side to take the win. Winters moved up nicely, while Bakker ran out of laps in trying to track down Walsh in the non-stop event.

A main (started): 1. Peters (2) 2. Hall (4) 3. Meyer (3) 4. Mitrisin (12) 5. Higday (17) 6. Kearney (8) 7. Davey Heskin (1) 8. Johnny Anderson (7) 9. Beaver (15) 10. Schulz (10) 11. Mather (6) 12. Heimbaugh (13) 13. S. Alexander (18) 14. Mason (14) 15. Tyler Thompson 2T (5) 16. Walsh (20) 17. Bickett (16) 18. Winters (19) 19. Vanderploeg (11) 20. Golik (9)

Peters dominated every lap of the 15.  One stoppage slowed the event when Vanderploeg screeched to a halt on lap eight with possible rear-end troubles.  The caution hurt Minnesota youngsters, Heskin, who was running a strong second at the time, and Winters, who faded after the green fell again.  Mitrisin stalked his usual prey, but Higday was the hard-charger shooting forward 12 spots.  The win was Peters' sixth on Knoxville soil and first of the year here.
