Brian races in Sedalia (John Lee – High Fly’N Photos)
(Bill W) August 23, 2017 – Brian Brown and the Casey’s General Stores/FVP #21 team had a typical strong showing at the Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia last weekend with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Series. The Grain Valley, Missouri driver posted a second-place finish. The team heads to Knoxville Raceway in Iowa this Saturday for Season Championship Night before they will spend much of the month of September racing in central Pennsylvania.
How did things go in your heat at Sedalia?
We started off with a good draw. I guess I went a little early in the heat race, so they penalized me a row. We were really good in the heat. We almost won it. We were almost past Jonathan (Cornell) there on the last lap to win it. With a short field, it still gave us enough points to get in the redraw.
You redrew the seven and started inside the fourth row for the feature.
We really just weren’t as good as we normally are at Sedalia. We didn’t make the right adjustments to the car there. We just weren’t as good as we needed to be. We were able to get to second. It started laying rubber there towards the middle stages of the race. That made it tough to pass, but we were right there in second at the end.
A number of your partners were on hand in Sedalia.
Overall, that made it a pretty good night. It’s always important to race in front of your local partners. We travel so much that they don’t get to see us run that often. Impact Signs, Awnings and Wraps, Ditzfeld Transfer, Champion Oil and Weld Wheels…those four companies have been with us since day one. Anytime we can race in their backyard, it’s important for us to be there.
Season Championship night at Knoxville is always fun!
We’re looking forward to Knoxville and capping off a really good season there. We’ve been good there every week, and we’re hoping on finalizing our season there with a win.
