Justin Henderson (3rd car out to time) set quick time over the field with a lap of 11.482 seconds on the banked 3/8 mile oval. Chad Hillier (2nd car out) was second quick, followed by Joey Saldana (17th), Terry McCarl (6th), Daryn Pittman (8th), Steve Kinser (20th), Jason Meyers (19th), Zach Chappell (1st), Dion Hindi (7th) and Jason Sides (5th).
Heat one (started): 1. Jac Haudenschild 35 (8) 2. Meyers 14 (2) 3. Sides 7s (1) 4. McCarl 24 (3) 5. Henderson D1 (4) 6. Tony Bruce Jr. 18T (7) / 7. Brooke Tatnell 2 (7) 8. Jason Martin 36 (10) 9. Craig Dollansky 7 (9) 10. Jerry Richert Jr. 63 (6)
Sides led early before a lap three spin by Dollansky. The restart saw Sides leading Meyers, McCarl, Henderson, and a surging Haudenschild. “The Wild Child” quickly went to work on the high side disposing of Henderson, McCarl and Meyers before he shot around Sides in turn two on the ninth of ten laps. Meyers shot around Sides in three and four on the final go-around to grab second and a transfer to the dash, while Bruce grabbed the final transfer from Tatnell late as well. Dollansky struggled and would need a motor change before the B.
Heat two (started): 1. Kerry Madsen 11H (1) 2. Pittman 21 (3) 3. Sam Hafertepe Jr. 15H (6) 4. Chad Kemenah 3x (5) 5. Jeremy Campbell 10c (8) 6. Jason Solwold R19 (7) / 7. Chappell 8K (2) 8. Davey Heskin 56 (10) 9. Billy Balog 17 (9) 10. Hillier 5c (4)
The initial start was called back when officials determined a Madsen jump. He was sent to the second row, but made quick work of Pittman to take the lead immediately. He would keep the point the rest of the way. Hafertepe also moved by Pittman early. Pittman would retake the spot with two to go. Solwold grabbed the final transfer from Chappell at the halfway mark. Second quick timer Hillier faded and suffered a flat right rear on the last lap. Three clear grooves provided great heat racing.
Heat three (started): 1. Paul McMahan 20 (1) 2. Kinser 11 (3) 3. Danny Lasoski 83 (5) 4. Donny Schatz 15 (7) 5. Saldana 9 (4) 6. Tim Shaffer 6 (6) / 7. Hindi 11D (2) 8. Randy Hannagan 1x (8) 9. Brian Carlson 18 (9)
McMahan led flag to flag. Fierce racing action saw Hannagan move into sixth before spinning on lap nine. That was a break for Shaffer who grabbed the last transfer narrowly holding off Hindi. Lasoski nearly caught Kinser for second. Saldana blew smoke the last three laps, but held on.
Dash (started): 1. Madsen (1) 2. Henderson (7) 3. Saldana (8) 4. McMahan (2) 5. Meyers (4) 6. Sides (10) 7. Kinser (5) 8. McCarl (9) 9. Haudenschild (3) 10. Pittman (6)
Madsen led the duration of the eventful 8 lapper. Chargers early were Henderson and McCarl. When Haudenschild got sideways while running fourth, it impeded McCarl, Meyers, Sides and Kinser behind him, dropping most back a spot or three.
B main (started): 1. Hannagan (5) 2. Dollansky (6) 3. Tatnell (3) 4. Balog (7) 5. Martin (9) 6. Hindi (2) / 7. Carlson (8) 8. Heskin (10) 9. Richert (4) 10. Hillier (1) DNS – Chappell
Hillier took the early lead in the 10 lapper. Dollansky quickly moved into the top three, while Balog slid into a transfer spot using the low side of a quickly drying track. On lap seven, Hillier struck the turn two infield tires and turned over. He tried to continue, but had little success. Dollansky assumed the lead ahead of Hannagan, Tatnell, Balog, Hindi and Martin. Hannagan was able to take the lead after a nice duel and won the battle of two third row starters.
A main (started): 1. McMahan (4) 2. Meyers (5) 3. Henderson (2) 4. Saldana (3) 5. Madsen (1) 6. McCarl (8) 7. Kinser (7) 8. Haudenschild (9) 9. Pittman (10) 10. Sides (6) 11. Tatnell (11) 12. Lasoski (13) 13. Schatz (18) 14. Kemenah (12) 15. Bruce (16) 16. Hafertepe (14) 17. Solwold (17) 18. Shaffer (15) 19. Dollansky (21) 20. Hannagan (20) 21. Martin (23) 22. Hillier (25, pr.) 23. Campbell (19) 24. Hindi (24) 25. Balog (22)
After the track was reworked from top to bottom, Henderson shot out to a nice lead at the start of the 30 lapper. The speeds were fast, and though three grooves existed, there was little movement forward in the non-stop event. McMahan used the low side to track down Henderson by lap 20, and Meyers did the same on the last lap to grab second. McCarl was gaining on Madsen and a top five, but needed another lap to grab the spot. Schatz was the hard-charger, though he only moved forward five spots.
