(Bill W) June 5, 2017 – A win and two seconds at the Jackson Nationals in Minnesota last weekend has Kerry Madsen buoyed atop the Midwest Thunder Sprint Cars presented by Open Wheel 101 standings heading into a four-race week! Ian Madsen matched Brian Brown’s win total this year in Midwest Thunder Sprint Cars events with his third victory, and Brad Sweet picked up the big $25,000 check in Saturday’s finale at Jackson.
Kerry Madsen is atop the standings, ahead of brother, Ian, Brown, Sweet and Donny Schatz. Mark Dobmeier, Tim Kaeding, Austin McCarl, Brooke Tatnell and Lynton Jeffrey complete the current top ten.
The upcoming schedule will remain heavy with World of Outlaws events while they are in the Midwest. Two of this weekend’s four events will be WoO sanctioned, as the Knoxville regulars take them on both Friday and Saturday.
In other action, the IRA will vie for $5,000 at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin on Thursday. The event is being made up as a result of the rainout there on May 21. The car count should be very strong and will include Tony Stewart. Sunday, Tony’s All Stars will be on hand in what should gather a fantastic field again vying for $5,000 to win at the racy 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa.
