(Bill W) June 1, 2017 – Bailey Goldesberry put in another good night with the Sprint Invaders Sunday at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa. She would finish 12th in the feature with a strong 26-car field assembled. The team will be taking this weekend off, but return to action in their 360 Sunday, June 11 at the Double X Speedway in California, Missouri.
Bailey’s issues with her 305 continued Saturday in West Burlington. She was unable to start her heat or the feature. “Saturday, we found an engine issue with the fueling,” she says. “We kind of determined that on the way home. We’ll get that fixed.”
Despite not drawing a good spot for her heat Sunday, she did what she had to do to make the feature. “We were able to move up from sixth to fourth in the heat, and that got us into the A main,” says Bailey. “The track was really good all night. There was a top and a bottom and that’s really all you can ask for.”
Starting seventh in the crazy 30-lap feature, Bailey would checker 12th. “It wasn’t a bad run, and it was a better night than we had Saturday for sure,” she says. “A lot of people were having bad nights. There were flips, problems and disqualifications, so considering that, we felt good about our twelfth-place finish.”
In the coming weeks, Bailey will get more experience with the 360 engine. Sunday was just her second outing with the 360. “I honestly don’t feel a big difference between the 305 and the 360 on these tracks,” she says. “I felt really good on Sunday with the Sprint Invaders though.”
Some of her upcoming starts will be in the “Show Me State”. “We’re looking forward to next Sunday,” says Bailey. “We’re going to be making our first trip to Double X Speedway in California, Missouri. Eventually, we’d also like to get to Lake Ozark Speedway on a Saturday night to get some more laps in the 360.”
