Sydney Renfro, Lauren Stewart and Lex
I started out race season this year at the same place I did last year, the Shamrock Classic. I’ll try to keep this part as short as possible. I went out and stayed with Lauren Stewart for three weeks in March, leading up to the 2nd Annual Shamrock Classic. We had good days, and we had some not so good days. That didn’t stop her from putting on another successful event. She made sure the trip was a lot of work first, then squeezed in fun. (Just kidding, we did work a lot, but everything we did was fun.) The day of the race was nothing short of amazing. We were organized, all the volunteers were so much help, and the racing was great. I’m so proud of you, Lauren!
Now to race season in Iowa. Race season here in Iowa is pretty much in full swing. I attended the 410 race in Burlington two weeks ago, where I got to see Austin McCarl’s first start with the TKS Motorsports team. I may be biased, but I think there couldn’t be a better team for Austin to be racing for. And Austin has been my favorite driver ever since I was a kid, and still is. Austin has worked so hard in the last five years to get to where he is now, and I’m excited to see what him and Troy do this year.
Knoxville’s season opener was last weekend, but it rained out shortly after motor heat was underway. I don’t care what anyone says, I was just glad to hear the engines start at the famous half-mile that I’m lucky enough to attend weekly. This coming weekend, practice night and the season opener at Knoxville will be made up. If you’re in the area, make sure to attend and support your local dirt track. Also, my friends from up north are going to be coming down and racing Knoxville this weekend. I am SO excited, because I haven’t seen them since last year’s Knoxville Nationals. Lastly, I can’t wait to watch my uncle back on the track. He has an awesome team built and they work hard all winter long.
In between all the races I’m attending, I’m getting ready for my graduation party and celebration. Man, time has flown but I’m so excited to move onto the next chapter. To celebrate graduation, I’m hopping on a plane right after I graduate to attend the Indy 500, midget week, and hang out with Lauren for 3 weeks.
As always, thank you for taking the time to read this. If you ever want me to blog about a specific topic, don’t hesitate to send in suggestions!
