Jock Goodyer has put himself in a great position to add a Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic victory to his impressive resume with an outstanding performance on Night 2 of the 2025 edition of the Classic. After timing in fifth in his Time Trial group Goodyer would then remain undefeated from that point as he claimed both of his heat races before leading all 30 laps of the finale to book a front row start in the Classic decider on Sunday alongside Jamie Veal.
“We are back to where we want to be. I have really got to thank my guys for their hard work. We haven’t got the results that we expect lately so this one is for them. They gave me a great car and this result is a great start to our weekend, and we are now in the best possible position to win our first Classic” added Jock following the race.
Also booking their direct entry into the 40-lap final were James McFadden in the Brady Motorsports #WX23 and American’s Garet Williamson and Cory Eliason. For Williamson this was an outstanding result considering he started from position 18. Grant Anderson was the first driver to miss the automatic transfer in fifth with Randy Morgan putting in an impressive performance to finish sixth ahead of another youngster Kobi Wright. Local racer Peter Doukas, Callum Williamson, who started on the front row, and Chris Soloman completed the top ten.
Luke Dillon, Tate Frost, Riley Goodno, Marcus Dumesny, Dayne Kingshott, Ian Madsen, Ben Morris, Bobby Daly, Josh Buckingham, Ash Cook and Luke Thomas completed the finishers.
The only stoppage of the race occurred on lap 2 when Matt Dumesny, who was running fourth, spun in turn two and was collected by Brendan Guerin.
The night started off in tremendous fashion for Marcus Dumesny after setting quick Time in Flight 1 but after only 2 laps of the opening heat he destroyed an engine requiring an engine change prior to the second round. The Lost points put him into the B-main, but he went on to win it ahead of Buckingham, Frost and Kingshott, who also found himself in the B-main due to a wicked flip on the front straight in heat 2.
Heat winners were Goodyer (2), Eliason, Callum Williamson, Bobby Daly, Riley Goodno, Will Carroll and Randy Morgan.
