(SprintCarWorld) In what was a thrilling 30-lap A-Main on night 1 of the 2025 Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic at the Premier Speedway in Warrnambool, local hero Jamie Veal edged out Lockie McHugh in a torrid battle with Kerry Madsen and Jordyn Charge joining the leading pair as guaranteed starters in Sunday night’s Classic decider.

After starting from the pole Veal led the entire distance but McHugh threw everything at the leader late in the race with the Australian Champion taking the lead briefly in turn two only to have Veal retake the lead as they entered turn three. But while Veal and McHugh battled for the lead Madsen had a lonely run in third, but it was the duel for the fourth that had everyone’s attention.

At one point there were five drivers all attempting to claim the spot with the likes of Brock Hallett, Todd Moule, Cam Waters, Ryan Newton, and Jordyn Charge all attempting to secure the vital position. In the end Charge lived up to his name as he drove from position 13 to claim fourth ahead of Hallett, Newton, Waters, Matt Egel, Chase Randall, and Jy Corbett.

Jackson Delamont was next with Jessie Attard, Steven Loader, James Inglis, Brett Milburn, Brodie Davis, Jordyn Brazier, Dane Court, and Brody Appleby completing the finishers.

American Cole Macedo tagged the wall while running inside the top four and failed to finish while others to strike issues included Todd Moule, Jack Lee, and Michael Stewart.

Earlier Cam Waters was the quickest driver during Flight 1 of Times Trials with a lap of 11.517 while a lap of 11.334 by Brock Hallett was the best in Flight 2.

Heat winners in round 1 included Cam Waters, Jamie Veal, Brock Hallett and Lockie McHugh. The night didn’t get off to the best start with Rankin riding a huge crash in heat 1 that resulted in a delay while Dennis Jones rolled in turn four in heat 3. The second round of heats saw Ryan Newton win heat 5 easily before Michael Stewart won heat 6. Tasmanian Brody Appleby was the winner of heat 7 while Jordyn Brazier claimed the final heat.

Jy Corbet, Jessie Attard, Brodie Davis, and Dane Court transferred into the A-Main via the last chance qualifier.

Night 2 of the Classic will see the second half of the field complete with the likes of James McFadden, Jock Goodyer, Garet Williamson, Callum Williamson, Marcus Dumesny, Luke Dillon, Tate Frost, Jordy Rae, Ian Madsen, and Grant Anderson among the leading drivers.
