The redraw saw one High Limit and one WoO driver in the first five rows. Crazy. Row ten starters (Lynch and Abreu) qualified for being the two highest point drivers not making it through their heat. The missing man formation in the four-wide was in honor of late Eldora promoter Jerry Gappens. 40 laps and here we go. Scelzi dominated his feature on Wednesday and starting on the pole, he was many’s pick for good reason. He shot out ahead of Larson, Courtney, Gravel and Schatz. Sweet passed Schatz for fifth on lap two. On lap five, Courtney put a slider on Larson and gained second. Scelzi was pulling away and in traffic on lap nine. Madsen did a 360 after contact with another car and brought caution ten laps in. Courntey suffered a flat right rear tire during the yellow, surrendering second. Schuchart gained fifth from Schatz on that restart. On lap 14, Sweet rode around a low riding Gravel for third before Kofoid lost an engine wile running 13th 16 laps in. His teammate McFadden was the next to enter the top five, getting around Schuchart on the restart. Gravel was cooking again and passed Sweet low on lap 17 to take back third. Scelzi was pulling away and back in lappers when Larson bobbled on the backstretch on lap 18, allowing Gravel to get back by on the low side. Schatz was making the bottom work as well, and climbed to fourth at the same time. Scelzi builds over an eight second lead, when McFadden has a flat right rear, bringing caution on lap 32. Scelzi had smacked the turn four wall before that, and it was time for a fuel stop with eight to go. Scelzi led Gravel, Larson, Schatz and Allen, who had climbed from 21st to fifth, also using the low side of the track. Unfortunately, the stoppage ruined Allen’s chances when he couldn’t get the car started with ignition problems before the restart. Sweet inherited his top five spot. Scelzi took off again, but got into the turn one wall and flipped himself, causing heartbreak, but no injuries. Gravel assumed the lead, chased by Larson and Schatz. Larson slowed on lap 37, allowing Schatz by for second. He brought caution with two to go. Gravel held on for the $100,000 check (one of six this year) over Schatz and Sweet. Abreu was the hard-charger, going from 20th to fifth.
