Rico Abreu (24th car out to time) set the standard on the quarter-mile oval at 10.652 seconds.  The surface was drier than usual on the high banks with a strong wind out of the south.  Logan Schuchart (25th car out) was second quick, followed by Sheldon Haudenschild (16th), Jacob Allen (3rd), David Gravel (11th), Brock Zearfoss (14th), James McFadden (12th), Brad Sweet (26th), Gio Scelzi (22nd) and Carson Macedo (28th).  Noah Gass smacked the wall completing his first lap, and got just one circuit in.

Heat one (started): 1. Allen 1a (2) 2. Macedo 41 (4) 3. Abreu 24 (1) 4. Spencer Bayston 5 (6) 5. James McFadden 83 (3) 6. Buddy Kofoid 11 (7) / 7. Justin Peck 13 (5) 8. Bill Rose 6 (9) 9. Noah Gass 20G (11) 10. Blake Hahn 52 (8) 11. Jack Dover 81 (10)

10-lap heats took the top two to the Dash, and the top six to the feature.  Allen led the distance, while Abreu followed in tow.  Macedo shot by Abreu on the last lap to snag a Dash spot.

Heat two (started): 1. Gravel 2 (2) 2. Schuchart 1s (1) 3. Sweet 49 (3) 4. Donny Schatz 15 (4) 5. Sam Hafertepe Jr. 15H (6) 6. Tim Estenson 14T (5) / 7. Aaron Reutzel 8 (8) 8. Ayrton Gennetten 3 (7) 9. Riley Goodno 22 (9) DNS – Slater Helt 22s

Fuel issues sidelined Helt.  Gravel led early over Schuchart and Sweet.  Hafertepe passed Estenson for fifth on lap two.  Reutzel tried to chase down Estenson for the final transfer but fell short.  Estenson credited new crew chief Jack Dover.

Heat three (started): 1. Haudenschild 17 (1) 2. Zearfoss 3z (2) 3. Scelzi 18 (3) 4. Brian Brown 21 (4) 5. Tyler Courtney 7BC (7) 6. Garet Williamson 24w (6) / 7. Kasey Kahne 9 (8) 8. Ryan Timms 5T (9) 9. Robbie Price 7s (5) 10. Brett Becker 2B (10)

Haudenschild led wire to wire.  Zearfoss and Brown trailed early, but Scelzi slid by Brown for third on lap two.  Williamson entered corners high and exited low to run down Kahne for the final transfer.  He made his final pass on the last lap.

Dash (started): 1. Haudenschild (1) 2. Macedo (2) 3. Zearfoss (3) 4. Gravel (6) 5. Allen (4) 6. Schuchart (5)

The 8-lap Dash set the top six starting spots in the feature.  Haudenschild dominated a mostly single-file affair.

B main (started): 1. Timms (7) 2. Price (2) 3. Peck (1) 4. Kahne (4) 5. Reutzel (3) 6. Gass (8) / 7. Gennetten (6) 8. Hahn (10) 9. Dover (13) 10. Becker (12) 11. Goodno (9) 12. Rose (5) 13. Helt (11)

The 12-lapper took the top six to the A.  Peck was penalized from the pole for jumping the first start.  Price led early over Reutzel and Kahne.  Peck took over third on lap three, while Gass gained the sixth and final transfer from Gennetten on lap four.  Peck continued his move forward with a pass of Reutzel for second at the halfway point.  Timms started his charge from row four, taking fourth from Kahne on lap seven and passing Reutzel for third on lap eight.  At that point, Goodno spun with a flat left front with four to go.  Price led Peck, Timms, Reutzel, Kahne and Gass back to green.  Timms quickly jumped into second on a very racy surface, while Gass picked off Kahne for fifth.  Dover spun with three to go.  On lap eleven, Timms shot into the lead, while a mad scramble was happening fifth through seventh.  At the white flag, Reutzel was fifth, ahead of Gass and Gennetten.  When they came back around, the order was Gass, Gennetten and Reutzel, but the shuffle was negated and the finish went back to the last completed lap when Hahn stopped with a flat left rear in turn three.  The yellow thrown after the leaders crossed the start line saved Reutzel, and left Gennetten on the outside looking in.

A main (started): 1. Haudenschild (1) 2. Macedo (2) 3. Sweet (8) 4. Schuchart (6) 5. Zearfoss (3) 6. Abreu (7) 7. Scelzi (9) 8. Peck (21) 9. Courtney (15) 10. Kofoid (16) 11. Schatz (11) 12. McFadden (13) 13. Allen (5) 14. Timms (19) 15. Hafertepe Jr. (14) 16. Reutzel (23) 17. Price (18) 18. Brown (12) 19. Gass (22) 20. Estenson (17) 21. Gravel (4) 22. Bayston (10) 23. Kahne (20) DNS – Williamson

After curious track prep, the race was shortened five laps to 30 for reasons unknown.  Williamson could not fire.  Macedo got the jump on Haudenschild early ahead of Gravel.  Zearfoss took third on lap two.  An infield cone was hit four laps in, slowing things.  Macedo took the inside groove ahead of Haudenschild, Zearfoss, Gravel and Allen.  Schuchart took fifth from his teammate on the restart.  Another caution came eight laps in for debris.  Gravel passed Zearfoss for third on the restart.  Things were heating up in front.  Gravel and Macedo tangled for the lead, in turn four on lap ten, when Haudenschild somehow went three-wide and got between the wall and Gravel to pass both for the lead, much as he did in the same spot in 2020.  Meanwhile, Sweet was on the move, taking fourth.  Reutzel spun 14 laps in to bring another yellow.  Haudenschild chose the inside lane in the double-file restart, ahead of Macedo, Gravel, Sweet, Schuchart and Zearfoss.  Sweet shot into third shortly after the green fell.  Two laps later, Macedo passed Haudenschild to retake the lead.  A lap later, Kahne was upside down, but unhurt in turn three.  Sweet claimed second from Haudenschild on that restart before Gravel backed into the turn one wall and collected Bayston ending both their nights with nine to go.  Macedo led Sweet, Haudenschild, Schuchart, Zearfoss and Abreu back to green.  Haudenschild took second back from Sweet with six to go, and set his sights on the leader.  Running the rim of the high banks, he shot by Macedo with five to go and never looked back for his second straight US36 win.  Peck was the hard-charger.
