Schuerenberg then drove Spithaler off the top of turn three and brought a caution. Spithaler showed his displeasure with Schuerenberg after the checkers, after climbing to seventh from the tail. After the lap two caution, Wilson took the third spot back.

Scelzi led early over McFadden, Bayston, Sweet and Zearfoss. McFadden shot by Scelzi to take the lead on lap two, while Sweet took third, and Zearfoss fourth from Bayston. Sweet cinched into a Dash spot from row three by passing Scelzi on lap three. Zearfoss was third by the halfway point. Henry snatched the last transfer spot from Bayston on lap three, but Bayston stayed close. Henry made himself “wide” in holding onto the spot, with Bayston coming just two-hundredths of a second short at the checkers.

The 10-lapper took the top two to the back of the B. Sabo led Price and Rayhall on lap one. Morrell surged from fourth to second on lap two in his chase for Sabo. McHugh used the low side to snatch third from Price with three to go and reeled in Morrell. He passed him for the final transfer in the very last corner.

Spithaler led Bayston, Co. Macedo and Abreu early. Abreu took third from Co. Macedo on lap two before Andrews spun to bring caution. Spithaler picked the inside line ahead of Bayston, Abreu, Co. Macedo, Thorson and Shaffer. Abreu got a mega-jump that had my section scratching their heads. Anyway, he was leading by the flagstand ahead of Bayston, Spithall and Co. Macedo. By lap four, Thorson had shot from fifth up to third. On lap six, Spithaler got back by Co. Macedo for the final transfer, but Co. Macedo used a good ninth lap to shoot from fifth back up to third. Abreu, Bayston, Co. Macedo and Thorson moved on. Sabo flipped in three and four after the checkers flew. He was not injured.
A main (started): 1. Larson (4) 2. Schatz (9) 3. Sweet (2) 4. Schuchart (7) 5. Gravel (1) 6. Madsen (3) 7. Wise (6) 8. Courtney (14) 9. McFadden (8) 10. Haudenschild (5) 11. Ca. Macedo (10) 12. The 40-lapper took a while to get a rhythm. Sweet shot out to the early lead over Madsen and Larson. Haudenschild took fourth from Gravel on lap two. Larson worked by Madsen for second on lap three. A Thorson spin on lap eight slowed things. Sweet chose the inside line ahead of Larson, Madsen, Haudenschild, Wise and Gravel. Haudenschild took third, while Gravel moved into the top five. Only two more laps counted before Bayston spun while running 13th. Philo exited with a broken shock. Schuerenberg spun on that restart, setting up single-file. Madsen passed Haudenschild with a slider in turn two to take third. On lap 12, Haudenschild would run into Madsen in turn four, then proceed to do a 360. He kept it going, but the caution came out. He was placed in 12th on the restart. Sweet took the inside line again, but this time, Larson shot by him to take the point. Gravel moved into fourth, and Schatz started coming on in fifth. By lap 14, Schatz passed Gravel for fourth. Henry spun while running 13th on lap 16 to bring the final yellow. Larson chose the outside line, ahead of Sweet, Madsen, Schatz, Gravel and Wise. Schatz continued a low to middle line and passed Madsen for third on lap 21. The leaders finally entered traffic for the first time with 12 to go. Schatz would go low in four to take second from Sweet on lap 29. For the final ten laps, he was on Larson’s tail, pulling beside him on a couple of occasions. Kyle held on to win the Doty Classic for the second time, with his first having come in 2020. Schatz was the hard-charger.
