Gio Scelzi (4th car out to time) set quick time at 11.580 seconds. Kyle Reinhardt (2nd car out) was second quick, followed by Tyler Courtney (6th), Brinton Marvel (1st), Zeb Wise (12th), Ayrton Gennetten (10th), Paul McMahan (3rd), Cap Henry (9th), Cory Eliason (14th) and Joe B. Miller (8th). Obviously, it was advantageous to draw early as the track drying and cushion moving up the track affected the later pill drawers. Justin Peck made one lap and shut it down, while Sam Hafertepe Jr. seemed to be down a cylinder and timed in 30th.
Heat one (started): 1. McMahan 5 (2) 2. Scelzi 18 (4) 3. Cale Thomas 11 (5) 4. Miller 31 (3) 5. Justin Peck 13 (6) 6. Marvel 21BP (3) / 7. Tanner Holmes 18T (7) 8. Kameron Key 21 (9) 9. Jack Wagner (8) DNS – Ben Brown 7B
8-lap heats took the top six to the feature. The winner, and fastest qualifier not to win, made the Dash. The top two remaining qualifiers in the heat made for an eight-car dash. Brown had rear-end issues before the green fell. Peck was penalized a row for jumping. Once underway, McMahan paced every lap. Miller rode second, until Scelzi and Thomas, subbing this weekend for Spencer Bayston, shot by. The PPV drone was killed as a side note. After doing several cartwheels with a crash in turn one under green flag conditions, it was mangled beyond recognition as cars pulverized it lap after lap.
Heat two (started): 1. Henry 4 (2) 2. Noah Gass 20G (1) 3. Wise 10 (3) 4. Bill Balog 17B (5) 5. Reinhardt 91 (4) 6. Skylar Gee 07 (9) / 7. Jake Bubak 1x (8) 8. Samuel Wagner 73 (10) 9. Derek Hagar 9JR (6) 10. Tucker Klaasmeyer 27 (7)
Hagar got sideways high against the wall in turn two and collected Klaasmeyer, who could not avoid him. Hagar took several scary flips. Both drivers were ok, but done for the night. Henry led every lap. Balog earned fourth from Reinhardt on lap two. Gee pressured Reinhardt late, but settled for the final transfer.
Heat three (started): 1. Eliason 26 (2) 2. Courtney 7BC (4) 3. Hunter Schuerenberg 55 (1) 4. Christopher Bell 39 (5) 5. Gennetten 3 (3) 6. Garet Williamson 24 (6) / 7. Kyle Bellm 50K (8) 8. Marcus Dumesny 47N (7) 9. Sam Hafertepe Jr. 15H (10) 10. Slater Helt 22s (9)
Eliason led wire to wire. Williamson snagged the final transfer from Bellm on lap two. Courtney worked on Schuerenberg before grabbing second at the halfway point. Bell passed Gennetten late for fourth.
Dash (started): 1. Henry (1) 2. Scelzi (2) 3. Courtney (4) 4. Eliason (3) 5. Wise (8) 6. McMahan (7) 7. Reinhardt (6) 8. Marvel (5)
The 6-lap Dash determined the starting spots in the first three rows of the feature. There wasn’t much movement, though Wise picked up three spots to improve his starting spot.
B main (started): 1. Holmes (1) 2. Bubak (2) 3. Bellm (3) 4. Dumesny (4) 5. Key (5) 6. Hafertepe Jr. (8) / 7. J. Wagner (7) 8. S. Wagner (6) 9. Brown (9) 10. Helt (10) DNS – Hagar, Klaasmeyer
The 10-lapper took the top six to the A. The top six remained the same throughout other than Hafertepe, who grabbed the final spot from J. Wagner on the fourth lap. J. Wagner had just wrestled that spot from his brother on the prior circuit.
A main (started): 1. Henry (1) 2. Wise (5) 3. Bell (14) 4. Courtney (3) 5. Scelzi (2) 6. Eliason (4) 7. Gennetten (15) 8. McMahan (6) 9. Schuerenberg (10) 10. Reinhardt (7) 11. Holmes (19) 12. Bellm (21) 13. Balog (13) 14. Bubak (20) 15. Gee (18) 16. Key (23) 17. Gass (9) 18. Marvel (8) 19. Hafertepe (22) 20. Thomas (11) 21. Peck (16) 22. Miller (12) 23. Williamson (17) DNS – Dumesny
The entertaining 30-lapper saw Dumesny suffer mechanical issues and retire before the green. Scelzi led Henry and Courtney on lap one, but Henry pulled a slider for the lead on lap two. Courtney followed him into second on lap three, and took the point for his own coming off the low side of turn four on lap four. Scelzi got by Henry for second on lap six, before the leaders entered lapped traffic on the seventh circuit. Wise took a podium spot from Henry on lap eight. The next time in turn two, he caught the wall, but kept it going. Henry jumped his left rear, but amazingly, both kept it going. The first caution came for Williamson, who caught the wall and collected Miller. Both were uninjured. Courtney led Scelzi, Wise, Henry and McMahan back to green. Wise and Henry shot by Scelzi for second and third. The battle for second continued with Henry grabbing the spot again on lap 15. Peck stopped on lap 16 and retired. Two laps after the restart, Henry used the far low reaches of the track to get by a cushion riding Courtney for the lead. Back in the pack, Bell was heating up after starting in row seven. He entered the top five on lap 19 before a flat right rear sidelined Thomas. Wise used the restart to get by Courtney and set his sights back on Henry for the lead. Henry was exiting the bottom and sliding across the track, as Wise was looking for a way to pass. With five to go, Wise climbed the turn three wall, with two wheels above the concrete. He slowed, but kept it going and kept his pursuit. A three-way battle for third, saw Scelzi take the spot with five to go. Lapped traffic came back into the play the last three laps. Courtney took back third, but a hard-charging Bell was on the move, grabbing fourth with two to go and claiming third from Courtney on the last lap. Henry earned $6,000 for his second All Star win of the year.
