(Bill W) October 2, 2020, Monroe, IA – Bill Balog won an unprecedented tenth career Interstate Racing Association (IRA) title this year. Balog capped his season off with a pair of wins last weekend. Friday, the win came on the half-mile Dodge County Fairgrounds, while Saturday’s victory came at the quarter-mile Plymouth Dirt Track.
Just five point races remain with the Midwest Thunder Sprints Series presented by OpenWheel101.com. Who will grab the big cash down the stretch? Last year, only one position in the season’s final race at Lake Ozark Speedway separated three-time champion Kerry Madsen and Bill Balog.
Madsen’s lead is just 29 points over Balog. Kyle Larson, Brian Brown and Rico Abreu trail. Austin McCarl, Dominic Scelzi, Ian Madsen, Tim Kaeding and Jake Blackhurst round out the top ten.
Point races this weekend include a two-night MOWA stand at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois. The Midget Gold Crown Nationals will also be going on, so check out a great open wheel doubleheader!
There’s still time to contribute to this year’s point fund!
