With just 2 nights of racing left in the regular season and 5 points championships on the line the fans who showed up at Eagle Raceway Saturday night for Fast Cars & Bright Stars Night, presented by Rotella’s and Great Clips knew that they were going to be treated to lots of great racing and nobody left disappointed.
Gunnar Pike went for a wild ride in the first heat for the IMCA Racesaver sprints when his #25 hit the turns 1 & 2 wall and ended up on his side. He was taken to the hospital for observation but is expected to make a full recovery.
The Duros Dent Works IMCA Racesaver Sprint Car A Main’s first lap was called off as the side panel from the nose wing of Toby Chapman’s 7 came off and was laying in turn 1. Dan Nekolite’s 10D, Brandon Horton in the 1B, the 12K of Troy Sanford and Trevor Grossenbacher in the 35 were the first 4 when a lap was officially in the books. Grossenbacher moved up to third the next circuit with Horton taking over the lead.
Grossenbacher advanced to second on lap 6 and took the lead the next time around with Sanford taking over third and the 76 of Jay Russell moving up to fourth. From there to the finish it was a matter of the gap between Grossenbacher and second place as he held nearly a half lap lead at the checkers. The final top 4 were Grossenbacher, Horton, Sanford, and Russell.
Be sure to come out next weekend as Nebraska Lottery and Coors Light present the Eagle Shootout. This is the final race of the 2020 season and with all 5 divisions battling for supremacy in the points battles, the competition will be furious and most likely will not be decided until the final lap of the respective features.
Front gates open at 5:00 with hot laps at 5:30 and racing at 6:30. Front gate adult admission is $12, youths 6-12 are just $5 and children 5 and under are free. All 5 classes will be competing including the Duros Dent Works Sprint Cars, Nebraska Lottery Modifieds, Coors Light SportMods, Valentino’s Hobby Stocks & ATV Motor Sports Sport Compacts.
Pit gates open at 3:30 with pit passes costing $30.
