America Strong night, presented by Duros Dent Works and the Nebraska Lottery Saturday at Eagle Raceway saw what anybody would consider a fantastic night. The temperature was great, the racing was fantastic and there is nothing more that you could ask for.
The only major incident in the preliminary events came in heat 3 for the Duros Dent Works Racesaver IMCA Sprints when Gunnar Pike made contact with another racer and went for a wild ride that ended up with him on the grass above turns 1 and 2. He was not seriously hurt, but his car was too damaged to finish the night.
The Duros Dent Works Racesaver IMCA Sprint Car finale saw Alex Salzman loop the 1A, collecting Jason Danley’s 4X and the 69 of Mike Moore. Moore went to the pits on the hook but Danley rejoined the race. The complete restart saw Tim Hilfiker’s 20 in the lead with Josh Riggins’ 14J, the 12K of Troy Sanford and Gene Ackland’s 14G rounding out the top 4. Ackland moved to third the next lap with Jay Russell putting the 76 into fourth. 2 circuits later Riggins snagged the lead with Tyler Drueke jumping up to third and Hilfiker falling to fourth. Mike Boston pushed his 51 past Hilfiker after another circuit for fourth. Boston advanced another spot to third 3 laps later. Trevor Grossenbacher put the 95 into fourth with 12 to go. Drueke snared the lead 2 laps later. Boston moved up to second
with 6 left. Grossenbacher moved to third 2 laps later. The final change in the top 4 came with 3 to go as Joey Danley put the 14 into fourth. Drueke came home first, Boston second, Grossenbacher third and Danley fourth.
Next weekend is Junior Fan Club Salute, presented by Colby Ridge. All 5 classes will be in action including the Duros Dent Works Racesaver IMCA Sprints, the Nebraska Lottery IMCA Modifieds, Coors Light IMCA Sportmods, Valentino’s IMCA Hobby Stocks and ATV Motorsports IMCA Sport Compacts.
Front gates open at 5:15, hot laps are at 5:30 and racing begins at 6:30.
The pit gates open at 4:00.
