(Premier Speedway PR) As the teams travel north to continue the sojourn that is World Series Sprintcars, the 2016-17 Speedweek Champion has been crowned while a popular South Aussie also claimed the Privateers Cup as more big names continue to roll in for the 45th Lucas Oil Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic!
On a night that saw Sungold Stadium, Premier Speedway, Warrnambool reveal that it still can have a slightly nasty streak, James McFadden put on a display in front of large audience that yet again confirmed just how talented the pilot of the Milwaukee Tools Monte Motorsport W17 is.
On a fast and demanding race surface McFadden made the most of his front row starting position to out duel defending World Series Sprintcars Champion Jamie Veal and claim a third win for the week, a result that could quite easily been four wins from four completed rounds except for some misfortune at Avalon on December 30.
McFadden’s win confirmed his standing as the World Series Sprintcars Speedweek Champion adding another $10,000 to his week’s winnings!
Veal did enough to hang onto second, a position he held for the entire 35-lap journey as Brad Keller displayed his talents behind the wheel of the S19 entry to claim an impressive third place finish.
Steven Lines survived some epic mid pack battles to finish fourth and claim the $3,000.00 bonus as the highest placed non-contracted team throughout Speedweek, a result that saw him finish second overall, just ahead of another of the Privateers, Luke Dillon, who again showed his consistency throughout the week.
Third place in the Privateers Cup went the way of the Diamond Bay Motorsports Team and current Knoxville Nationals Champion Jason Johnson.
Johnson finished fifth on Sunday night and was followed home by Dillon, Darren Mollenoyux, Matthew Reed, Brooke Tatnell and Jake Tranter.
